For 150 years in Scorrano, every July 6th, Saint Dominic has been celebrated “with a very rich and grand festival,” according to tradition. And in what many consider the world capital of luminaries, for the first time, the large structures that have become a symbol of Puglia will not be erected for the patron saint. So, two historic luminarists came up with an alternative: balconies and facades can be transformed into a luminary thanks to a specially created work. The companies MarianoLight and De Cagna Luminarie have collaborated to create a luminary measuring 41×41 centimeters, sold at an affordable price to allow devotees to purchase it, and it has a significant impact both in terms of design and decoration, as well as being a keepsake for a festival that will nonetheless remain in history. “In this way, even during an epidemic,” the creators write, “the community will celebrate its patron saint in an original way and honor the sentiment of faith that has accompanied Scorrano for centuries.” The renderings are already very impressive.
