
SALENTO – As punctual as every year, the appointment with the "Blue Flags" returns, the prestigious award granted to beaches that have distinguished themselves for water cleanliness and environmental respect by the international NGO FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), based on samples taken by the environmental agencies of the Regions.
After the disappointment of 2019, the municipality of returns to the list Melendugno with its marinas, while those of are confirmed Castro, Salve and Otranto.
In total, there are 195 Italian municipalities that received the Blue Flag in 2020, an increase of 12 compared to the 183 from the previous year, with no dropouts and a total of 407 beaches, which is about 10% of the awarded beaches worldwide.
Additionally, the recognition has also been awarded to 75 tourist ports.
